Vacancy: Online Editor

Cook Islands News is currently looking for a full-time Online Editor to manage our website, drive digital content development, and carry out the newspaper’s digital strategy. This is a dynamic role for someone with proven experience in online media and content creation and looking to play a role in growing the newspaper’s digital footprint.

Primary tasks are:
Maintaining and enhancing the company’s online content, posting content daily using SEO best practices on the website and social media.
Serving as editor of cookislandsnews.com while leading development and promotion to expand readership and the subscriber base of cookislandsnews.com
Training colleagues and mentoring reporters in using content management systems, multimedia gear (cameras, microphones), and online tools.
Overseeing the newspaper’s social media presence by posting content daily and monitoring readership activity.
Producing multimedia content - videos, podcasts, and photo galleries.
Using Google analytics and other audience analysis tools to produce reports on online reach and effectiveness of digital strategy.
Work with the news team sharing daily news and reporting assignments.
Applicant should have:
•    Experience in journalism, communications and/or media
•    Strong ability to work under pressure and meet daily deadlines
•    Good organisation and time management skills
•    Experience with content management systems, ideally Wordpress.
•    Writing and editing experience
•    Experience using cameras, video and audio editing software is a plus
