The competition’s Round 3 event, which has multiple event classes, was held on Saturday but the series will continue for another four rounds - every weekend until September 24.
Thomas McDonald from RSC said points roll over every week to encourage people to attend and score good results.
McDonald said the series continues right up to the Cook Islands Games, which starts on September 30 and runs to October 15.
“It means basically that everybody should be getting into the competition mindset and be down pat,” McDonald said.
It should make for some really competitive and interesting races for the Cook Islands Games.”
McDonald said the games would have multiple different sailing classes from Electrons – an internationally recognized class of remote-control yachts – to vaka and kitesurfing.
“There are loads of different classes of vessel out there, so it's going to be an awesome Cook Islands Games.”
McDonald said the RSC winter series started casual but each week more rules were being enforced to get the sailors ready for “pretty staunch rules and regulations” in the Games.
