The Bears are looking forward to a good game following their win against defending champions Tupapa Panthers a fortnight ago.
Their 22-18 win over Tupapa Panthers has provided them an opportunity to finish in the top two.
With the Easter long weekend now out of the way, Bears coach Bobby Hansen says they are fielding a new team against the Eels in the crucial clash this afternoon.
This will be their second match against the Eels after going down in round one clash at Aretere Park in Avatiu.
Hansen said they want to get out there and have fun, but at the same time keep building and head towards the final.
Eels coach Clive Nicholas said they needed the win to maintain pole position in the points table.
Nicholas said the Bears gave a “good belting” to the Panthers whom they lost to in the opening week of round two.
He said the Easter break was good but at the same time it was a setback for the team as it impacted on their training.
“We have had too many setbacks this year. We had players suspended, two main players left the country and players were injured. But we are coming with full strength.”
Nicholas has called on their supporters to be at Raemaru Park and show their support.
Meanwhile, the match between Lady Bears and Lady Bulldogs was cancelled yesterday.
In a statement the Bears said: “Apologies on behalf of Lady Bulldogs, due to several injuries they are unable to field a team.”
