Rippa and rugby 7s off to flying start

The Rising Stars Rugby Championships kicked off last Friday with over 300 active participants.

Cook Islands Rugby Union’s Ben Koteka said: “With 27 primary school Rippa rugby teams (U11 and U13 boys and girls) and seven college rugby 7s teams, there was lots of hard and fast action but still early days yet with five more weeks of competition to go.”

In the College Rugby 7s, U14 Tereora defeated Nukutere by 21–14.

“It was game of two halves after Nukutere led at the interval by 14–nil. Tereora try scorers were Tara Edwards, Vincent Aukino and Logan Ahau. The Nukutere try scorers were Joseph George and Joshua Ravaceva.”

In U16, Tereora defeated Nukutere by 28–14. Tereora led at halftime by 14–7. The Tereora try scorers were Noma Daniels (2) and Taitoa Webb (2). Nukutere tries were scored by Tokyo Paerau and David Ingaua.

“Don’t forget there are there more weeks of Rising Stars action every Friday from 11.45am at Raemaru Park – Arorangi.”
