Netball Cook Islands secretary Tekura Moeka’a says Empire is dominating the league and remains unbeaten.
Toa Fusion and Spice Guys have had a good run while Shine on Fiji teams bring the flare and tenacity to the game.
Today, Empire will face Spice Guys after defeating the National Squad 54 -43 last week at the National Sports Arena.
“It has been all about the Men's Netball League - and promising to see that even in New Zealand and Australia they introduced men’s/boys netball in their tournaments.”
She said Cook Islands could be taking the same pathway even though it is a long road ahead but it is one they hope will build and mobilise the Cook Islands community.
Moekaa said the games have also been beneficial for the National Squad players based in Rarotonga as this has given them much needed game time.
“There is still a lot of work to do as we build up for the Pacific Games. The Raro based players have been training hard since the announcement of the wider squad under the watchful eye of Rima Moeka'a who have been setting them through their paces.”
She said it has also been great to have returning Cook Islands during their study break join the local squad for both training and games.
Netball Cook Islands is looking to name the team in due course. Moeka’s acknowledged the community for showing their support with Netball Cook Islands recent Cardio Combat Fundraiser and thanked Luciana Nicholas and team.
