Yesterday’s dull weather failed to cloud the spirit at the 2022 Cook Islands Games as island teams put on another good show in various events held around Rarotonga.

Beach volleyball, football, cricket, lawn bowls, table tennis, touch rugby, tennis and boxing continued yesterday. Pictured is action between Aitutaki and Mitiaro in the men’s football clash at Matavera grounds yesterday.

As of 9am yesterday, Mangaia maintained its lead in the overall open medal tally with 28 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze medals and 199 points. Aitutaki is placed second with 12 gold, 22 silver and 15 bronze medals (141 points) followed by Atiu with 14 gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals (116 points) Today’s events: Beach Volleyball (Nikao Beach Courts): 10am - 5.30pm; Boxing (National Auditorium): 5pm - 9pm; Cricket (Matavera/Ngatangiia): 10am - 5pm; Football (CIFA Academy): 12pm - 5.30pm; Lawn Bowls (Rarotonga Bowling Club): 5.30pm - 7.30pm; Rugby League 9's (National Stadium): 12.30pm - 6.30pm; Table Tennis (National Indoor Arena): 1pm - 6pm.
