Letter: Liquor licences

Dear Editor, A recent letter writer to Cook Islands News suggested that the Liquor Licensing Authority, when publishing public notices of liquor license applications, identify the actual location of the intended (legal) drug outlets, instead of just naming the relevant village.

And yet, the notices continue to give the people who live in the relevant village, who will bear any ill-effects of the intended (legal) drug outlet, not the slightest hint of the actual outlet location, be in on-sale or off-sale.

With one exception, we see that the Cook Islands Game Fishing Club, that has not denied that it recently continued to serve a very drunk patron who then drove straight into an accident, seeks a fresh license. We all know that location.

One wonders if some investigative body needs to have a look ‘under the table as it were’ of the Liquor Licensing Authority?
