Anguna-Kamana said the farmers needed to be mindful of the hot and dry conditions the country is currently experiencing.
She said cattle especially need at least 20 litres of water daily to avoid distress.
“Please consider the welfare of your animals and provide water daily and shade during this time.
“We are extending this notice to the Pa Enua livestock owners also,” she added.
Matavera farmer, Tereora Ngamata says he monitors his pig’s water container on a daily basis and ensures it has sufficient water supply during this time.
Ngamata said farmers needed to look after their livestock during this dry spell, make sure they have enough water and be kept under a shade, away from the sun.
He said farmers also needed to look after their crops and vegetables but at the same time “conserve water”.
