Head girl Vanessa Trood says she feels quite “nervous” stepping into the role but is happy to work with other prefects.
“It will be kind of a good job to do, and I want to do my best and help the school and the students,” says Trood.
Apii Takitumu started the 2023 academic year with a roll of 160 which includes Titikaveka pre-school students. More students are expected to enrol in the coming week.
School principal Maui Joseph says they have started off the year really well and are well prepared.
“This is an exciting day for our prefects while we celebrate our new leaders for 2023 and I would like to acknowledge our parents and families who are here today.
“Your presence is a gesture of not just your support for your child but also for your recognition of the importance of today’s occasion for our prefects.”
Apii Takitumu is committed to devoting time and effort to groom and develop their students in becoming good leaders.
The prefect interviews were conducted last year and the school is proud to have dedicated student leaders for outstanding role models, says the principal.
“We know our prefects will carry a strong sense of purpose as they groom themselves in their leadership roles this year,” said Joseph.
“Remember to always keep an open mind to learning and I believe that you will all find this journey a rewarding one.”
The Apii Takitumu 2023 prefects are: Head girl Vanessa Trood, Head boy Aroko Kirkwood, Arera Tupa, Eva Noovao, Inano Urirau, Joy Poila, Kaino Gribble, Khan Manu, Lizzel Tautu, Lucas Nooroa, Tearea Hunter and Tehema Charlie.
Reverend Rouru Paanu, Australian acting high commissioner Ruth Baird, Matavera Member of Parliament Vaitoti Tupa, parents and families attended the occasion.
