Thirteen more cruise ship visits are expected between now and the end of the year, says Cruise Cook Islands Stuart Henry.

On Wednesday, passengers who arrived on the cruise vessel Paul Gauguin took the opportunity to go on an excursion and take a walk around Avarua.

Henry said from the 280 passengers on board, 265 came ashore and went on excursions like Raro Safari Tours, Takitumu Conservation, Captain Tama Snorkel Tour and Circle Island Tour and also walked about town and used a taxi to get around the island.

And at 4.30pm on board the Paul Gauguin, 17 members of the Akirata Dance Troupe performed in the Grand Salon, a state of the art theatre used for entertainment and lectures.

He said around 200 visitors watched the 40 minutes show and it was well received with many visitors taking photos with the group.

He said Cruise Cook Islands next ship Paul Gauguin will be on September 12 in Aitutaki and September 13 for Rarotonga followed by Silver Explorer in October.

Henry revealed they have 13 more ship visits up until December 17.

He said to date for 2023, Cruise Cook Islands have had 10 out of 10 successful calls for Aitutaki and seven out of eight calls for Rarotonga.

He said: “Unfortunately Atiu and Palmerston visits were cancelled in April due to weather conditions.”
