Richard Tuaputa appeared before Justice of the Peace Tangi Taoro in the Criminal Court in Avarua on Thursday.
He pleaded guilty to breaching his probationary licence.
Tuaputa was sentenced to 12 months’ probation in October last year, after being convicted of careless driving causing injury.
As part of his probationary conditions, he had to pay $50 a week for a year in reparations.
However, probation told the Court that Tuaputa had failed to provide payment since April 14.
Probation told Court that Tuaputa’s reason—that he “forgot”—was inexcusable.
JP Taoro agreed, and sentenced Tuaputa to serve the remainder of his probationary sentence on community service.
“Let this be a lesson to you,” JP Taoro said.
