Savenaca Buresova appeared in the Criminal Court on excess blood alcohol and driving while disqualified charges.
Police said the defendant was not represented and was aware of recommendations.
The defendant then apologised to the court after JP Taoro asked him if he had anything to say.
“This is your second EBA but your first while driving while disqualified,” JP Taoro told him.
The court noted the level of alcohol was extremely high, 218 mg per 100 ml of blood.
The defendant was convicted and sentenced to 12 months of probation, ordered not to consume or purchase alcohol, attend workshops as directed and not to leave the Cook Islands without approval.
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months, to be served concurrently with an existing term, court costs of $50 and reparation of $150 for the blood test. He was fined $100 for driving while disqualified and ordered to pay $50 court costs.
