Tae’anga Evangelia or Gospel Day will be hosted by the Arorangi Cook Islands Christian Church (CICC) at Raemaru Park tomorrow starting from 10am.
Gospel Day is a public holiday in the Cook Islands on October 26th each year. The day celebrates the arrival of Christianity to the Cook Islands on October 26, 1821
Every year the Gospel Day public holiday celebrations are hosted by the Cook Islands Christian Church (CICC).
This year the churches on Rarotonga have gathered together in their respective Vaka of Takitumu, Te Au O Tonga and Puaikura for their drama portrayal based on the theme of the arrival of the Gospel to their district.
Puaikura will re-enact when Christianity was accepted by Tinomana Ariki, Te Au O Tonga by Makea Ariki, and Takitumu by Kainuku Ariki and Pa Ariki.
The emcee for the day is Diakono Teariki Purua. Everyone is welcome to watch the day’s events.
