Plans to revive Miss Cook Islands pageant.

The pageant will either be held this year or in 2024.

Association secretary Rohan Ellis said they held their Annual General Meeting last week and president Dianna Clarke-Bates is assessing restarting the pageant.

He said a decision will be made and announced shortly.

Ellis said: “Organising a professionally run pageant requires careful consideration and planning, including sponsor partnerships and other commercial arrangements to ensure the contestants experience an amazing professional development programme to ready themselves for the big stage.”

Tajiya Sahay is the reigning Miss Cook Islands, crowned in 2019. She represented the Cook Islands at Miss World 2019 in London and she placed sixth overall, and won the Oceania continental title.

Meanwhile, Cook Islands did not participate in the 2023 Pacific Islands Pageant held in Apia, Samoa earlier in the year.

The regional pageant was brought back after a break of more than two years, due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Ellis had earlier stated that there has been no national pageant in the past three years, also due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
