Ngatangiia’s Nukupure Park will be hosting a special music concert tomorrow (Thursday) featuring the Luna Boys – a mix of talented and popular Cook Islands artists from Aotearoa New Zealand.

The concert came about through conversations some months ago between talented and well-known Aotearoa based Cook Islands musician Noo Vaevae Pare, the founder of Heimana Music Distribution Ltd, and president of the Ngatangiia Matavera Sports Club Kaka Ama, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ngatangiia.

“Noo approached me about a fundraising event for the club and since our overseas artists were going to be here at the same time, we decided a music concert would be great,” said Ama.

Dubbed the Cook Islands Rage Concert, the event at Nukupure Park on Thursday will start at 5pm. It will also serve as a fundraiser for the Ngatangiia Matavera Sports Club.

Ama said: “Rugby league is now over and the field is available which is a good spot for the concert for the sports club.”

“I know there will be great music from these artists.”

Pare said the first Cook Islands Rage concert was held back in 2015 at the Avatiu Sports field for the Cook Islands 50th anniversary celebration.

“This is our second rage concert on Rarotonga and we have a great line up of about 30 singers,” said Pare.

Some of the artists who will hit the stage are: Heimana House Band, Savaiki, G Baby, Soasoa Nui, Brother Love, Tapunui Motions, Teuira Williams ‘Tzar’, Quincy Matangi, Sonia Viniki, Dana Williams, Kura Tauira, Arohaki Solo, John Viniki and Tom Peau.

Food stalls will be available on the night and the bar will be open.

General admission tickets are $40 per person and VIP $100, tickets can be purchased online or at the Super Brown store.

Heimana Music Distribution Ltd is the biggest producers of Cook Islands music worldwide. They record, produce and distribute some of the Cook Islands’ most memorable songs.
