French Polynesia

Four more people in French Polynesia have tested positive for Covid-19, raising the total to 51.

The tally also shows that the number of carriers in hospital has dropped by two to one.

All cases are concentrated on Tahiti and Moorea.

The increase of Covid-19 positives has prompted the French High Commissioner to warn of tighter and more frequent controls on the movement of people.

Fiji

There are now 14 Covid-19 cases in Fiji following two more positive test results

On Saturday, the government announced its highest recorded cases in a day, with five people confirmed to have the coronavirus.

- Fiji’s government has issued a zero-tolerance policy due to increasing Covid-19 violations, following 110 arrests on Sunday and 61 overnight Monday for breaching a curfew. More than 500 people including police officers, church ministers and representative rugby players have been arrested for breaching the lockdown and curfew restrictions. Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama warned anyone caught breaking the law would be dealt with severely.

- A Fiji Airways flight carrying fresh produce and mail arrived in Sydney on Sunday. The airline said on its return to Nadi, the plane would bring over 11 tonnes of medical equipment donated by UNICEF. Earlier, Fiji Airways operated a charter flight by the Mormon Church to the United States. Church missionaries who arrived in Fiji from Tonga, Kiribati and the Marshall Islands were on that flight to Salt Lake City in Utah. The aircraft will return via Los Angeles with freight only.

Papua New Guinea

The governor of Papua New Guinea's East New Britain province says police will enforce lockdown measures in several wards where a confirmed covid-19 case has been present.

PNG confirmed its second case on Monday, a 40-year-old female from the province who developed a cough 16 days ago and was later admitted to the hospital.

Governor Nakikus Konga said the woman since left hospital, feeling normal, but is in isolation.

The whole province has been placed in lockdown in an attempt to curb community transmission.

Northern Marianas

The number of Covid-19 cases in the Northern Marianas has jumped to 11 after three people tested positive for the coronavirus.

Of the three new cases, two are male, ages 45 and 53, and one is female, aged 53.

As of Wednesday, the CNMI tested 45 people for Covid-19.

Of those, 37 tests have been processed, showing 11 positive results, 27 negative and one inconclusive result that will be retested.
