The Townside Titans made an impressive comeback in the inaugural Women’s Rugby League ‘Conan’s Cup’ series to keep their title hopes alive.

After going down to the Countryside Red Bulls 0-58 in game one last week, the Titans worked hard to win the closely contested game two 14-12 at Nukupure Park in Muri last night.

After the hard-fought win, Titans player Maruia Willie said: “Like we said we regrouped after last week’s loss, spent this week working on our areas of improvement but most of all working together as a team and building our bond and camaraderie. That was definitely a different team that went out there (yesterday) compared to last week – one that was hungry and one that worked together.”

“We played for one another and stuck to the plan. It was nice to end game two on a high after last week, but Red Bulls definitely made us work hard for it. Back to the drawing board to prepare for next week.”

The Red Bulls sustained some injuries in the physical affair. “Love to all our players who have injuries. Thanks to supporters,”

The deciding match of the series will be held next Friday at Nukupure Park.
