Panthers skipper Rima Browne was pleased with the performance of the players.
“Great first hit out for 2023. Plenty of new girls from both teams which is a good sight for the future of women’s league here at home. Lots of potential players for the upcoming Pacific Games,” Browne said.
Lady Bulldogs in a statement on their Facebook page said it was a “beautiful first game”.
“Not the result we wanted by hey! It was awesome to see all the awesome new faces who have joined us this season, not bad for a group of ladies who
were pulled together under one and a half weeks,” Bulldogs said.
“Word of appreciation to our new sisters, our lewas for joining the Doggies. We appreciate you all and look forward to what the season has in place for the team.”
The team congratulated the player of the match. Lady Bulldogs’ Mereina Herman for her hard work and effort.
“That’s was deserving in all ways. Thank God for such awesome sisters who carry the name of our little bit humble village on their shoulders. We are all proud of you.
“Looking forward to more trainings and game days with you all.”
In the premier men’s competition, defending champions Tupapa Panthers shrugged off last week’s defeat to beat Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles 30-12 at Victoria Park on Saturday.
