The Clive Nicholas-coached Eels thumped Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles 64-0 at Nukupure Park on Saturday.
In an absolute masterclass performance, the Eels displayed pace, aggression and fitness as they led 24-0 at the break.
The side defeated Tupapa Panthers 38-8 in round one and now leads the premier men’s competition with two wins.
In the other premier match, defending champions Panthers survived Arorangi Bears with a 36-12 win.
The Panthers led 16-0 at the break. The Bears fought back in the second half but the Darren Piri-coached Panthers proved too strong and held on to win their second match.
In the women’s competition, newcomers Lady Eels stunned defending champions Lady Bulldogs with a 30-10 win on Friday at Teimurimotia Park in Titikaveka. The Eels led 26-0 at halftime. The Bulldogs bounced back in the second half but left it too late as the Eels glided away with the win.
In the other women’s match played on Friday at Victoria, Lady Panthers beat Lady Bears 8-6 in an epic clash.
