The first youth athletics competition last Wednesday drew a small group of enthusiastic athletes who posted some great results.
The fortnightly meet is expected to draw more youth athletes as stormy weather caused changes to the start of the programme.
The eight athletes who took part in the first meet were Teiti Tupuna (Tupapa), Czaria Hoff (Ngatangiia), Richard Parima (Arorangi), Patricia Taea (Titikaveka), Samantha Lockington (Arorangi), Harry Ivaiti Jnr (Tupapa), Temu Hagai (Nikao) and Anau Parima (Arorangi).
The team competed in the 60m dash, 100m sprints, shot put and discus at the BCI Stadium.
The next youth athletic competition is scheduled for Wednesday March 24 and if you think you can beat this week’s times and distances – prove it at the next meet.
