Athletes and health enthusiasts are encouraged to take part in today and tomorrows World Athletics Day track and field events at the BCI Stadium
World Athletics Day was officially celebrated on May 11 and the Cook Islands Athletics Association has organised a number of events in commemoration throughout this month.

On April 8, students at Arorangi Primary School took part in a tree planting project, a community initiative under the Athletics Day programme.
Avarua School students are getting creative in an Olympic values essay writing competition.
The two-day track and field events, starting today at 4.30pm ,will include 100 metre sprints, shot put, 200 metre sprints, javelin throws, 50 metre dash and 400 metre run.
Families are encouraged to take part in the event with races catering for junior, open and masters athletes.
On Friday a cross country run will be held from Avatea Primary School in Nikao and again the public is invited to join the run.
The final event on the Athletics Day programme is a disability fun games day on May 23 at the Sinai Hall in Avarua.
