A lack of wind has forced Team Cook Islands sailor Helema Williams off the water and into the gym as the countdown to the London Olympics continues.
Williams’ fifth day in Weymouth was a day off and involved walking around the beach and heading to the movies. It was a rest day that manager Anne Tierney said was well deserved.
”A nice lazy day for Helema – she sure has earned it!“ Tierney posted on the Sailing Cook Islands Facebook page.
”On the way past the harbour we saw the Lasers paddling back in and I guess being towed.... yep! No wind and nothing much for the next two days!
”That means its [sic] back to gym sessions.“
The Manihiki sailor, who is also the team’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony on July 27, is competing in the women’s Laser Radial class, with competition set to begin on July 30.
Williams is currently looking for suggestions to name her new boat. If you think you have the best answer, go to the Sailing Cook Islands Facebook page and throw your idea in the hat.
