The Cook Islands national netball team looked to redeem themselves last night in their final match at the Pacific Netball series against Fiji in front of their home crowd.

The national team faced a spirited Papua New Guinea team on Wednesday night and won the match 62-56.

However, Fiji commentators have called the win by the Cooks ‘unconvincing’ after their first up 49-40 loss to Samoa.

In fact, Fiji netball commentators said the Cook Islands ‘does not look as threatening as many would have thought’ ahead of their match against Fiji.

They added that the Cooks needed to dig deep if they were to create a major upset against Fiji last night.

”We needed to improve on our games and focus on what we are here for,“ commented Cook Islands skipper Ritua Aliivaa.

”We will relook at our performance and look at ways to improve on it.“
