Friday 31: The final round of the Palm Grove Golf Championship was played out on Saturday and saw the lead change in many divisions.

Daniel Webb, playing in the senior men’s division had an indifferent round but his first round 67 was enough to ensure he remained the winner with a total score of 289 from Ned Howard on 296.

In the blustery conditions, in which many players struggled to stay in bounds, Alice Pilkinton played her usual steady and accurate game to card a 78 to just pip Maara Kenning by one stroke.

Alice won the senior ladies’ division with a total of 318 with Maara on 319. This was a hard fought division with six strokes separating the top five ladies.

In the intermediate men’s division, Teariki Smith’s sub-80 first three rounds were enough to make up for his last round 88.

Teariki won with a total of 312 ahead of Dr. Henry on 318. In the intermediate ladies, Rita Howard’s second round 79 helped to secure her win over Ruru Ngatamaine on 246. - NAGA
