The Takuvaine Warriors rugby league club teams will be looking their best when they step out in their new playing gear for the second round of the current 2012 rugby league season.

The Warriors are not only looking forward to shining on the field in their new kit but to making their loyal supporters proud on home ground as the club will play host to visiting teams in the second round of the league competition.

Funds to purchase the new strip have come from fundraising efforts including the sale of plates of food, working bees and through sponsorship from Turtles, FBI and VIP Hairdressing.

The club’s fundraising efforts went towards the purchase of three new sets of gear for the premier, reserve and under 19 grades. The under 16 team for now still use the uniforms from last season sponsored by Teariki Framhein of Takuvaine but the club will be looking at getting sponsorship for the purchase of new uniforms for the grade.

The new gear was blessed at the Takuvaine Meeting House on Monday night in front of a strong group of players and supporters who were thrilled to watch the club’s dreams become a reality. Senior coach Vaivase Samania in his speech challenged the players to wear the new strip with pride.

Sport minister and patron of the club Mark Brown said that the players were very lucky to get such stunning outfits as during his days of rugby, new gear was very hard to get.

The club would like to thank Turtles Sports Store, FBI, VIP Hairdressing, Takuvaine Fundraising Committee and everyone in the community that helped out supporting its fundraising efforts.

The special uniform blessing ceremony wrapped up with a feast prepared by the players and supporters.
