Saturday 8: Visiting UK school Wellington Borough College enjoyed friendly games of netball and rugby against Tereora College yesterday to end their sports tour.
The team of 60 students and eight staff have been on the road for the past three weeks where their first stop was Hong Kong.
After Hong Kong the team travelled to Auckland and slowly made their way to Christchurch in the South Island.
Team spokesperson Fiona Burgess says the young athletes have enjoyed their short stay in Rarotonga.
The best parts included travelling to Rarotonga on the same plane as the local under 21 side and staying at the Edgewater Resort and Spa where all the World Youth Netball Championships teams are staying.
Fiona says that their college is one of the smallest in England with a total roll of 400 students.
“We have 400 boys and girls and in total we have 150 girls of which 30 of them are on this trip,” says Fiona.
The team certainly enjoyed mixing and mingling with the Tereora College students and look forward to returning home today. – MW
