Avatiu Eels premier rugby league players will step out against the Bulldogs this Saturday in their new ‘Turtles’ kit thanks to the sponsorship by the clothing company and major sponsor Super Brown.

This season’s new Eels premier grade jersey, supplied for the second year by local clothing company Turtles, returns to the ‘old school’ days of the dominant white colour and includes the logo of the club’s main sponsor Super Brown.

The kit was blessed last night and before Super Brown owner Taoro Brown returned to Atiu yesterday afternoon – he had the opportunity to marvel at the new kit.

Brown says he felt it was a great opportunity to market and promote his business by sponsoring the Eels– a club he represented in six grand finals ‘back in the day’.

“I’m passionate about rugby league and I’m just glad to be able to help out,” says Brown.

He adds that he is looking to pushing more support and sponsorship towards grassroots development and says that only local businesses getting behind sports clubs can help develop sport.

“It’s up to the business people to back and show their support to these clubs.”

Avatiu Eels premier grade coach Albert Nicholas Jnr would like to thank Brown and his wife Rose for their generous sponsorship to the team and club.

This year’s jersey is also a tribute to one of the club’s fallen brothers Boye Nicholas who was a long time supporter and sponsor of the club.

His name is embossed on the jersey’s right arm to remind the players of his passion and contribution to the club.
