After over 8 rounds of The Computer Man men’s season and no club has been able to put a stop to Tupapa’s unbeaten record.

The Titans came close two weeks ago, but with a win over Takuvaine in the weekend Tupapa look like the team to beat.

Three rounds into the new round robin competition and two teams remain unbeaten – Tupapa and Matavera.

However there is still plenty to play for with 6 rounds left in the current competition.

Batting first against Takuvaine, Tupapa posted 180 runs, led by national and Tupapa skipper Toala ‘The Tank’ Teinaki who blazed 65 runs from 53 balls in an innings that included eleven 4’s.

The score could have been bigger if it wasn’t for a piece of genius fielding from TKV’s Terry Williams to have Teinaki run out. Next on the score sheet was Junior Ruarau who cracked five 6’s on his way to 39.

The Takuvaine bowlers came under heavy punishment but Vinegar Richard was a thorn in Tupapa’s side as his pin point accuracy and change of pace restricted the Tupapa batters, Richard rewarded with two wickets for just 17 runs from his 4 overs. TKV’s in form batters this season Terry Williams (31 runs) and Kamoe Kavana (27 runs) topped the TKV scorecard however low scores from team mates meant that TKV couldn’t cross the line and fell 45 runs short of victory.

Chasing Muri’s 120 in the weekend Titans batter Pastor Zekaria was the stand out batter. The teenager topped the scorecard with 37 runs which included two 4’s and four big 6’s. Brothers Kieran and Cameron Thorpe were in the wickets sharing in three wickets each. Titans winning by three over’s and three wickets.

Turangi were in fine form against Tupapa 2 with three batters reaching a half a century. A late fight back by Tupapa’s Mataora Toru (65 not out) wasn’t enough to get Tupapa 2 through. Turangi winning convincingly.

Matavera claim their stake at 1st spot on The Computer Man men’s table (on equal points as Tupapa but leading on Net Run Rate) with a win over Davana. Batting first Davana were set for a big score through Peia Tuaati who got stuck into the Matavera bowlers early, however a big turning off spinner from Iain Howard had Tuaati trapped in front. National youngsters Takatua Puiki (4 overs for 12 runs) and Ngametua Tariau (3 overs, 9 runs, 3 wickets) made things tough for Davana and despite a great knock from Arama Tutakiau (23 runs) Davana managed just 88 runs.

Despite just 88 on the board, Davana went in to full attack mode collecting 4 wickets early with Mike Short and Pavai Taramai getting 2 wickets each. With the game hanging in the balance Ray Roumanu and Iain Howard steadied the ship with 35 and 25 runs respectively to get Matavera home in the 16th over.

Placings: 1st Matavera (10 Points), 2nd Tupapa (10 Points), 3rd Arorangi (6 Points), 4th Titans (6 Points), 5th Muri (6 Points), 6th Takuvaine (6 Points), 7th Nikao (6 Points), 8th Turangi (6 Points), 9th Davana (2 Points), 10th Tupapa 2 (2 Points).
