Tupapa Maraerenga Football Club lost to the champion club of Samoa, Kiwi FC in the third and final match of the Oceania Preliminary Club tournament in Pago Pago, American Samoa on Saturday.

In very wet and slippery conditions the Samoan club champions capitalized on their chances and scored two goals in the first half and added a third just before full time to beat the Tupapa side three goals to nil.

Tupapa had a number of chances of their own in the first half but couldn’t convert them into goals. Tupapa coach Delaney Yaqona says it was unfortunate that the final and deciding match had to be played in very wet conditions however congratulated the Kiwi FC on their win and for qualifying for the Oceania Champions League in 2014.

The grounds were so wet that the third and fourth place playoff match between Lotoha’apai United of Tonga and Pago Youth of American Samoa was called off.

The Tupapa team will arrive back tonight from Pago Pago, American Samoa.
