Top 7s points scorers eye more

After two weeks of competition in the CITC Rarotonga Club Sevens the top point scorers are starting to reveal themselves, with the fleet-footed players from the Panthers, Eels and Cowboys featuring in the point scoring stakes.

Conrad Piri (Panthers) currently leads the pack with 34 points – consisting of four tries and seven conversions followed by Duane Gukisuva (Eels) with 30 points – six tries, and in third place is Sema Robati (Cowboys) with 27 points – five tries and two conversions.

Top scorers: 34pts: Conrad Piri(Panthers), 30 pts: Duane Gukisuva (Eels), 27pts: Sema Robati(Cowboys), 20pts: Bruce Goldsworthy(Eels).

In the top try scoring stakes after week two, fleet-footed Eels winger Duane Gukisuva leads the bunch with six tries.

National sevens rep Gukisuva has been in fine of late for the table-topping Eels sevens team who have won the last two weekends of rugby sevens.

He is closely followed by 19-year-old Cowboys flyer Sema Robati with five tries, then Conrad Piri (Panthers) and Bruce Goldsworthy (Eels) with four tries each. Then a group of players on three tries – George Turaki (Reds), Caleb Tatuava (Panthers) and Clive Nicholas (Eels). All players have been leading-lights for their respective teams even the past two weeks have been played on wet and muddy feilds.

Top try scorers: six tries: Duane Gukisuva (Eels), five tries: Sema Robati( Cowboys), four tries: Conrad Piri(Panthers) and Bruce Goldsworthy, three tries: George Turaki(Reds), Caleb Tatuava(Panthers) andClive Nicholas(Eels).

With the past two weekends being played in wet conditions this weekend’s matches to be played at the Ngatangiia Rugby Field starting at 2pm will definitely be on a hard and fast track which will be welcomed by the players.
