A small but hardy group of 25 walkers and runners dressed in their finest toga for the first Hash House Harriers run of 2012 held on Monday from the Punanga Nui Markets in Avatiu.
After admiring the array of colourful togas on display the group headed out for a brisk 3km walk through Avarua to the roundabout at Avarua harbour before returning to the market via the back road for well earned drinks and New Year chat.
New Zealand High Commissioner John Carter got right into the swing of things and wore a real pareu toga although a number of other togas were of equal high standard.
