The first Tin Man triathlon was held in 1983 starting from the Rarotonga Sailing Club in Muri. Pictured here in front of the old Sailing Club are the nine men who raced in the first event which celebrated 30 years in the running on Saturday. Among the racers in the photo are Tim Murray who was 15 at the time and Don Carlaw. The winner of that first year’s race was Paul McDonnell.
