Thanks to the generosity of Air Rarotonga, Teremoana Hardy will be flying to one of the southern group islands after winning last Saturday’s Air Rarotonga golf tournament.

Played in almost ideal golfing conditions, the competition drew a large field of players, all attempting to win one of the many prizes on offer.

As well as the first prize of a flight to one of the southern group islands, there was also a trip to Manihiki for a hole in one on the seventh/16th (which no one managed to claim), and a lucky draw from among the players of a trip to Tahiti.

Teremoana Hardy played the course well enough in this bogey competition to finish with a score of plus-6. Close behind Tere was young Leo Roa from Aitutaki with a 75 off the stick and a plus-5.

The other prize winners were Rita Howard, Aukino Tairea, Paara Pitomaki, Bruce Hargreaves and Peter McKinley, all with a plus-4, followed by Bruce Manuela, Ngarima Areai, Sonny Karati and Daniel Webb who each finished with plus-3.

Longest drive of the men came from John Jessie while young Ngarima Areai outdrove all the ladies.

Best men’s round came from Sonny Karati with a 70 off the stick.

Maara Kenning and Kurai Foster tied to be the best of the ladies with 83 off the stick each.

Club patron Ewan Smith representing Air Rarotonga presented the great prizes for the day.

This was a competition – which came, so to speak, ‘out of the blue’ – and the members express their thanks to Air Rarotonga for their generosity. Bruce Manuela was the lucky winner of a flight to Tahiti.

This Saturday is the Prime Foods Competition and Prime Foods have also shown their generosity by adding a lucky draw prize for the players.

Remember you have to be at the prize-giving to be eligible for this one. It has been good to see members staying on and even coming back for the prize-giving.

Some members are cutting it a bit fine with their arrival at the tee to start.

Remember, you should be at the tee, ready to play, at least five minutes before your tee time.

Look forward to many more great tournaments this year.
