Te Uki Ou sail-off

Eight weeks of sailing will culminate in a mini sailing competition for Te Uki Ou School senior students.

Students from rooms 1, 2 and 3 will get to show off their sailing skills and techniques to the rest of the school on Friday April 15 – the last day of school before holidays. Under the guidance of national sailors Junior Charlie, Taua Elisa, Helema Williams and Toka Narayan – the primary school kids have been tacking and jibing across the Muri lagoon with plenty of laughs and fun had by the students.

At the start of the programme, students spent some time on land learning the various parts of a yacht and safety around water before practising in Optimist sail boats on Muri lagoon.

Schools keen to get their students into the sport can contact the Rarotonga Sailing Club in Muri for enquires or to register your interest.
