The newly established Avana Cricket Club – the Tavana All Stars – are excited about the upcoming start to the cricket season after four weeks of recruiting and training.
The club’s emphasis is on junior development and so far they’ve been able to recruit keen youngsters ready to take on the challenge.
The Tavana All Stars is named after sponsor Captain Tama’s Lagoon Cruises.
Club president is Paerata (Paes) Kirikava who is looking forward to showing off his young players.
“It’s great to see the determination and natural ability these kids are showing towards a sport they have never played before,” says Kirikava.
“We look forward to a challenging, fun and exciting season as the new Avana Cricket Club, Tavana All Stars.”
And while the club junior team will be tied up with rugby for the first two rounds of the season, they will be firing when they do finally take to the pitch.
The club would like to thank sponsors Captain Tama, Whatever Bar and Grill, Summerfield Systems and Avana Condos for their generous support.
