The weekly ANZ Tamariki Sports programme will be stepping up a gear today with more drills and fun on the cards for kids.

Basketball, touch rugby and athletics are again the sports the kids will learn to play today with coaches aiming to get children to combine their new found skills through mini games.

The programme starts at 4pm with a warm up session at the BCI Stadium in Nikao.

After the warm up the children will split into their age groups for their hour long training in one of the three sports codes on offer.

The kids playing basketball will go with G-Dub (George Williams) to the nearby Princess Anne hall at Tereora College for their drills while the kids taking touch rugby will spread across the BCI Stadium grounds for their lessons.

Young ones doing athletics will be coached on the synthetic track.

The under fives will head off to their own corner of the track with programme coordinator Ake Hosea-Winterflood for their mini programme which includes basic sports skills and some lessons in communication and listening.

The weekly programme had over 120 kids last Tuesday and look forward to another good turnout today.

Those who that received their ANZ drink bottles are asked to bring them along today and those kids who don’t have one – don’t worry, more bottles and other goodies will be shared out over the coming weeks.

So get the kids along to the Tamariki Sports programme today at the BCI Stadium in Nikao.
