A Cook Islands soccer player attempts to tackle the ball away from his Tahitian opponent in the team’s second match of the under 17 World Cup qualifying tournament in Auckland yesterday.
The Cooks looked like they were going to hold Tahiti to a 0-all draw after some great defending by the local boys.
With no goals scored after the first half, the Cooks looked capable of containing the Tahitians.
But in the 59th minute, Tahiti finally broke the Cook Islands lines to slot in the winning goal of the game.
And despite a valiant fight by the Cook Islands squad, they weren’t able to get back in the game with Tahiti winning the match 1-0.
The Cook Islands now prepares to meet Tonga on Friday (Saturday NZ time) followed by the Solomon Islands after the weekend.
