A team of local taekwon do students leave today for New Zealand to compete in the fifth annual Oceania Taekwon Do Tournament this weekend.
Coach Upoko Poko and manager Poko Rongo will accompany them to the Wellington tournament.
Two of the students – Ben Maaka and Tangi Akama – will also be celebrating birthdays during the trip.
The group returns to Rarotonga next Tuesday, July 6.
“We would really like to thank everyone who supported the team as this trip would not have been possible without their support as the money raised was done by the students with the support of the community and some awesome businesses,” manager Poko Rongo said.
