The Princess Ann Hall was filled with excited students eager to see All Black star Jerome Kaino on Friday.

Tereora College was honoured to have the visiting All Black star as special guest at the Friday assembly. Kaino was welcomed by Tereora’s culture team followed by a cultural performance. Both students and teachers were overjoyed as the All Black got up and spoke words of encouragement about staying focused in school.

“A smart rugby player is a good rugby player,” Kaino quoted his All Black coach Graham Henry. Kaino said the reason behind his success in the All Blacks was that he stayed focused on his school work.

“You can’t play rugby forever – you have to have a good education because rugby isn’t going to be there forever,” says Kaino.

After assembly the All Black was flooded by students with their cameras and the odd rugby ball requesting a signature.

Teachers and other members of staff also grabbed the opportunity to get a snap with the All Black star.
