The contentious CISNOC special general meeting has been postponed to February 29.
Originally planned for this afternoon, CISNOC management says that ‘unforeseen circumstances’ have forced it to re-schedule the meeting.
Due to the postponement, Parliament could table CISNOC’s budget submission before the sports body has a chance to meet again.
Parliament opens on Monday, February 20, to discuss supplementary budget preparations, and is expected to sit for a week to 10 days. Sports codes are concerned about the budget CISNOC has prepared for tabling in parliament.
Released this week, the budget submission reflects CISNOC’s estimated financial position and confirms the body intends to pay Olympic codes what they are owed.
No provision has been made to pay non-Olympic codes within the next six months.
CISNOC has earmarked the remaining funds in the 2011-2012 Allsports budget for the payment of all outstanding debts. No further funds will be available from the Allsports grant until July 1.
Both the tennis and triathlon codes confirm they have threatened to make an application with the high court for the winding-up of CISNOC, and believe that the sports body’s commitment to paying out Olympic code funding is a result of its anxiety over possible legal action.
The codes say their threat was motivated by dissatisfaction with the way CISNOC’s finances are being managed.
Operations accounts books, also released this week, are raising athletes’ eyebrows.
Cheques totaling $970 were not receipted, and records include such expenses as $4000 in Koru Club memberships and $4000 in per diem payouts.
