Sevens in Heaven organiser Lara Sadaraka of Destination Cook Islands says that the 2010 sevens tournament was sensational.
“The sevens tournament was sensational including the support from the community,” says Sadaraka.
It’s only been a couple of days since the successful event wrapped up, and plans for the 2011 tournament are far from being confirmed, but Sadaraka says you can guarantee another outstanding tournament.
She is still to have a formal briefing with the Cook Islands Rugby Union, where issues from this year’s event will be discussed and plans put in place to improve the event.
This year’s tournament hosted the largest ever field of teams and Sadaraka says that she believes there is still room to grow the event.
This year saw 16 high calibre men’s teams and eight women’s teams.
Sadaraka reckons the tournament can handle 20 men’s teams and eight women’s teams are enough to provide fantastic action and promote women’s rugby.
“Although that can all change and we could include more women’s teams – there is still room to grow,” says Sadaraka.
Overall, Sadaraka and the team at Destination Cook Islands believe it was another successful tournament and is looking forward to a better tournament next year.
