Seeking budding tennis stars

Development and having fun are two motivations driving Tennis Cook Islands’ (TCI) holiday programme.

The programme, which runs until next Wednesday, splits children into three levels – beginner, intermediate and elite.

Depending on their skill level, the pupils learn how to develop hand-eye skills, co-ordination, shot selection and other key skills.

CEO Malcolm Kajer is running the programme with some helpers. Kajer said it is a very successful programme which runs in partnership with the ANZ tennis programme.

”Under-10s and under-12s – the future is looking good for that age group,“ he told Cook Islands News.

”The programme has been running for three years now, so they’re really coming through,“ he added.

There are still slots open for budding tennis stars. The four to six-year-olds have their slot from 9-10am, with the seven-and-up pupils going from 10am-1pm.
