On a soggy BCI Stadium field the Arorangi Cowboys under 19 squad showed their strength and skills to defeat a ‘never say die’ Titikaveka Bulls 19-3 and take out the championship title in the grade for 2012.
The Bulls managed to contain the Cowboys in the first half with their tough brand of rugby and at the half time break the Bulls were in the lead 3-nil.
But a resurgent second half Cowboys forward effort led by captain and prop John Vano set the foundation for the team’s win.
Vano, supported by loose forwards Raina Wichman and Andrew Purua, ran the game in the second half scoring a try each.
The Bulls were unable to free up enough possession to feed their dangerous midfielder Fortes Williams who had a quiet match by his standards while fellow team mate Rauti Ellison was a workaholic for the team.
Cowboys captain John Vano earned the man of the match title while his team mate Robert Heather Jnr took out the most valuable player award for 2012 in the under 19 grade.
