Sea Eagles slaughter Warriors

In a bid to get a top four position before the quarter finals – the Ngatangiia Sea Eagles pulled out all the stops and slaughtered the Sea Eagles 98-4 at the Swamp on Saturday.

The Sea Eagles were ruthless against the Warriors who despite all their efforts could not stem the flow of tries by the Sea Eagles.

Clinton Charlie and big flying Fijian George were the two prolific try scorers for the Sea Eagles.

The massive score for the Sea Eagles has gone a long way to pushing them into top four, however they remain just one point behind the fourth-placed Titikaveka Bulldogs.

Only 70 minutes of league were played at the Swamp with the Warriors request for a 30-minute second half granted by the Sea Eagles coaches and management team. If the extra 10 minutes had been played the Sea Eagles could’ve pushed their scores to over 100 points.

Despite the massive score line the Warriors, who looked sharp in their flash gear, can still take away the fact they ran in one try but no doubt veteran Vaivase Samania would have liked to see more of his boys cross the chalk.

The Ngatangiia Sea Eagles will regroup and want another repeat performance when they meet the Bulldogs this week with the aim of pushing their way to the magic number four spot.

For the Bulldogs it will be their last game of the season before the quarter finals and they will want a big win against their Sea Eagles neighbours to better their position on the points table and have a chance at contesting the 2012 league championships.

The Sea Eagles will have another game after their match against the Bulldogs which is going to be a real thriller.

In other games – the Panthers held off a spirited Bulldogs pack that snapped at their tails but couldn’t take the win with the Panthers edging them out 28-26 in a bruising encounter.

In Aitutaki, the Sharks supporters were out in force again but it wasn’t enough to defeat the visiting Avatiu Eels team who won the game 48-18.

Just two more rounds of games remain before the season crunch time when the quarter finals is played out to determine the top grand finalists teams of the 2012 season.
