The Samoa national netball team is eager to hit the courts and they will get their chance this afternoon when they take on Fiji in the first game of the Pacific Series netball tournament.

Coach and former Silver Fern, Linda Vagana, predicts an intense three days of netball ahead not just for her team but all teams in the comp- etition.

“It’s a do-or-die for everyone so it’s going to be an intense competition I guess,” Vagana said.

“The first two teams qualify for the worlds but we don’t want to settle for that. We do want to win.”

The team includes three players from the nation’s under 21 side plus players based in Samoa, New Zealand and Australia.

Vagana is also thrilled that the Pacific Series has brought together the teams of the Pacific to play under one roof to determine the best Pacific team.

Samoa will meet Fiji at 4.30pm today.
