Running roads

Last week was a little different from the previous weeks in the Rarotonga road series, in terms of athletes that is.

There were some new contestants, but quite a few missing athletes. Some had commitments; some were sick, some had niggles, some were early, some were late, and some were just plain missing.

Brian Toncray showed his potential this time, even though it was quite hot, and pulled one out of the bag with a time of 40:44, to take first place away from Scott Howley (41:02), while Becky Robinson (29:37) continued with her winning form, and new comer Andrea (33:53) got a taste of the heat.

A short relay event, depending on numbers, will be held today (Thursday) at 5.15pm outside the Kafe Kokonati, as a race sharpener for this Saturday morning’s ACI half marathon event. The half marathon will start outside the Chicken Magic shop at Manea Foods at 6.30am.
