2010 was a historic year for women’s rugby in the Cook Islands when the first ever national women’s rugby team returned home from their first tournament in Borneo with the plate.
Female rugby players gathered for their first training run this week with their eyes firmly fixed on the New Caledonia Pacific Games women’s rugby sevens tournament later in the year.
The two-day training session for women’s rugby is open to all women and girls keen to learn and play rugby.

Rugby clubs on Rarotonga are also encouraged to organise a women’s rugby team with the women’s rugby competition to run alongside the men’s tournament when the season gets underway in June.
