Roll-on, roll-off

After having their success kicked by the Blues (Mongoose) the previous week, the Reds (opposition) turned up to the Nikao field in full force.

In fact, both teams turned up in full force with enough players to form three teams but all those extras came very handy with the roll-on and roll-off of subs to keep the game flowing at a good pace.

It was awesome to see some very fit papas and it is obvious that after the previous game many have been doing the hard yardage in getting themselves fit.

Of course you always get those who still believe that they are fast when, in fact, they looked more like an old bull who just pulled a muscle in the leg.

The General was again in devastating form on the field and certainly deserved to be the player of the day for the Blues along with his support player Tik Tok.

In the Reds, the man who likes fighting fire was showing some real ‘Will’ power in both defence and attack to earn him player of the day for the Reds.

However, his matrix tackle on the General nearly sparked a bush fire but was quickly brought under control by the middle man (referee).

Speaking of the middle man who controlled the game for the past two weeks, he is now been appointed the No 1 referee for the masters while the other middle ‘leg’ man, Harrigan, is relegated to the premier grade.

The most outstanding player of the day would have to be the man called ‘Horse’ who was certainly carving up the opposition like a wild stallion being let loose.

Also great to see the legendary and former NZ Rugby League Kiwi Captain John Whittaker aka JW now in his prime (60-plus) still running rings (bare foot) around these young bucks (40-plus).

While the Reds had the edge over the Blues this time round, the game was very entertaining and played in good spirit.

The only disappointment is that, out of the 40 plus players at the game, only one from the West turned up, two from Ngatangiia and none from Titikaveka. So a call out to the masters in the country side to come along to the game.

The game today will be at the Tupapa Stadium, 5pm sharp kick off and then to the Masters HQ afterwards for a video analysis of the game followed by NRL and Super 15 live on SKY.
