Cook Islands Rugby League will be offering a refund to ticketholders for the abandoned Kiwis-Kukis match, but its text competition is still being held with some minor changes.

People who bought tickets to the now-cancelled international test match on October 6 will have two days to claim their refund on their ticket.

New tickets are also on sale for the Kukis match against the combined tri-series Cook Islands team, which is being held on October 6 in place of the cancelled Kiwis match.

The vacant shop next door to Cafe Jireh, opposite the Rarotonga Airport, will be opened and manned by CIRL officials offering the refund.

The shop will be open today between midday and 5pm, and tomorrow between 9am and 4pm. After that time, the CIRL will not be offering a refund, so anybody wishing to return their tickets has to do so between those times.

CIRL international director Kevin Iro said the $150 VIP tickets are still on sale for the new set of matches to be held on October 6.

People holding these tickets get access to a special VIP area, with food and drinks over the bar included in the ticket price.

They will also get the chance to mingle and meet with the six visiting New Zealand rugby league players and legends.

That list includes Parramatta Eels Fuifui Moimoi, Penrith Panthers Sam McKendry, South Sydney Rabbitohs Issac Luke and Sydney Roosters Shaun Kenny-Dowall (all Kiwi international players), as well as Kiwi, Raiders and Warriors legend Ruben Wiki and former Warriors coach and Kiwi test player Tony Kemp.

Iro said the CIRL was also forced to cancel the meet the teams dinner and auction, for the obvious reason of not having a Kiwi team to meet.

People who entered CIRLs text competition will continue to be in the draw to win a signed Kiwis playing jersey and a signed Kukis playing jersey.

The first place prize will be similar to what was originally offered, but instead of winning a day with the Kiwis squad on October 6, the competition will spend the day with the visiting Kiwi players listed above.

To get involved in the competition, participants need to text 946.Each text message costs 99 cents to send, so children are asked to get their parents permission before entering the competition.

The winners will be drawn on Tuesday, October 4, two days before the Kukis match at BCI Statdium.
