Today’s Round Raro Relay (RRR) will determine whether oe vaka crews are ready for Vaka Eiva, which is less than a month away.

Ngakau Toa Vaka is hosting the RRR, which starts and ends at the Avarua harbour. Teams of women, men and mixed crews will be paddling the 36km around the island.

Crews of nine people will be rotating in and out, doing change-overs from the water for the first time in a race this season.

Women and mixed teams start at 1.20 pm and men start 20 minutes later. Each vaka will have a support boat, bailers and a spare paddle.

Other paddlers who are not participating and team supporters will meet at the Avatiu harbour to board the support boats.
